Character Development PDF Print E-mail

Character Development articles are designed to help players flesh out their character concepts, improve their Role Playing and help promote the immersing nature of the Alliance Larp.  Please also check out the Library of Vandlar (under the In Game Menu) for documents, writings and treatises your character may have had exposure to (and can print/bring into game for reference).

Nobility and Society of Vandlar

A treatise on the structure of the Nobility of Vandlar and the relative responsibilities, powers and opportunities of the social classes of Vandlar.  A must read for those who live within the Kingdom and mandatory for those who seek to become a Squire, a Knight or something more.  

 

The Symbols of the Elements

The Elemental Symbols are ancient sigils tied to the 8 Elements of Creation- the Foundations (Stone, Air, Fire and Ice) and the Magistarium (Life, Death, Order and Chaos).  Many practictioners of magic and Ritual rely on these symbols for their work and many items, creatures and magical locations bear these marks as well. 

 

Divination and Roleplaying

Divination is an art that many races have practiced, and continue to practice to this day.  The Biata of Vandlar are well known Astrologers, the Gypsies carry their Cards and Coins to predict the fate of their family and customers and Orc Shamans burn the bones of hunted animals to study the shattered remains for visions of the future.   Every character, regardless of race, can take an interest in the Divinatory Arts and even set out to learn the secrets of fortune telling for themselves.  This document is a survey introduction to the role playing aspects of Divinations and, of course, you can always seek more powerful teachers In Game to help your studies progress.

 

Trade and Economics of Vandlar

Interested in becoming rich? The first step is to learn the economic realities of Vandlar.  Merchants, caravans and traders make their livelihood moving goods around the world from centers of production to areas of need.  Learning where to secure a particular product, or a market where you can sell it for a great profit, is essential to becoming a wealthy and influential trader.  In Game characters can take this knowledge and seek out trade partnerships, merchant licenses, purchase a ship and organize travel for traders (among thousands of other ideas).
