2008 saw many changes in Vandlar. The Rebel Prince Mordaki returned in the West leading an army of Icharons and in alliance with the mysterious and powerful creatures of the Earth Scar. War had descended upon the land. In the East the center of Zarden experienced much unrest as a powerful magic user sought to claim its resources for his own and the Dragon Mage Zarden was restored to power.

As the mists part and Vandlar becomes accessible to the wider world of Fortannis many discover for the first time the intrigue, magic and unique traits of Vandlar. Still a "young" continent by the terms of Fortannis the races, cultures and societies of Vandlar, while superficially similar to those of other lands, have deep differences which set them apart from more heavily visited lands.
